Cocaethylene |
Description |
Cocaine and ethanol are frequently consumed at the same time resulting in the formation of cocaethylene. This biologically active molecule is nearly as psychoactive as cocaine but produces a much longer lasting effect. Cocaethylene also has a greater toxicity than does cocaine. The presence of cocaethylene indicates the ingestion of ethanol. |
